There are volumes of books plus manuals and CD's plus DVD's and live seminars that promise to give you the answers to how to make money using the Internet. Most of those resources spend time telling you what skills and tools you need. Some say you don't even need a computer. Well since this is a free course by email you do need a computer to retrieve the information unless someone is printing it our for you and giving it to you to read. And if that is the case my position on tools you need is the same.

Checklist of basic tools you need to use the Internet to make money:

1. A computer with sufficient capacity so it doesn't slow you down when you are doing your work.
2. High speed Internet access .. some people say they manage without this, good for them.
3. An email account and if you choose to use free accounts I recommend Gmail and Yahoo. Do not rely on AOL for business email purposes. It is best if you have your own email account linked to your own domain name.
4. A domain name for the brand you want to build. I have played around with this a alot going back and forth on my primary domain name for branding purposes. I have settled on my name Steve Pohlit. see www.stevepohlit.com
5. Microsoft Office
6. Windows XP
7. Web page building software. I started with Frontpage, and now use XSitePro

The primary skill you need to know is how to register a domain name, set up the domain name on a server, design a basic web site and FTP that site and any subsequent changes to the server that hosts your domain. The primary reason for your first web page should be to offer a report, free course (like this one) an ebook or something to begin building your list.
